I dreamt last night that I was shopping for a watch.

Upon waking, I realized this was the most pleasant dream I had ever had.

What Magazines I Read

April 24th, 2007 · 1 Comment

ShoeShoe the Guru tagged me with this blog Meme.

What magazines do I read.

I read the MAKEzine online magazine about making things. Here’s an article in MAKEzine about how you can make a Darth Vader shaped hot air balloon in your own garage; since you’re not using your garage to have sex in because you’re a NERD.

I also have read the January 2004 issue of Guns & Ammo since January 2004. I got my roommate a subscription for Christmas the year before and he left that one in the communal bathroom. I guess that was supposed to be my present. I had almost finished it before I moved out of that house last month.

I used to read Nintendo Power. That was a pretty awesome magazine and it was cheaper than games.

Maybe I need to start reading some more magazines. Are there any magazines about being super classy and to be classier? Like Martini Magazine?

Any investors interested in funding that?

No Default!

If you have a lot of clients who blog or parents who blog and they just can’t seem to remember to put their posts into categories, slap this plugin down.

No Default! pops up a little javascript box if they didn’t choose a category and it won’t let them submit or save until they do.

Now you just have to answer the question of “Why didn’t my post save when I wrote it, saved it, and a little error box which I didn’t read popped up before I walked away?”

The tricky bits in this plugin are the methods you need to call to stop Javascript from submitting a form after submit.

In IE, you have to use attachEvent(’onsubmit’, checkCategory) to catch the submission, but in Firefox it’s addEventListener(’submit’, checkCategory, false)

Also in Firefox, returning false from your onsubmit function doesn’t work because it’s not supposed to. Call e.stopPropagation() and e.preventDefault() to halt the form submission.

Why would I say all that? Because Google was very little help while I was trying to figure it out in the first place.

St Patrick’s Day Only 4 Days AWAY!

I’m going to be at The Cat and Fiddle in Hollywood (on Sunset near Cahuenga) for St Patrick’s Day. It’s the awesomest outdoor British Pub Courtyard in LA and I will be celebrating a number of secret things.

I will also be drinking 40 Guinnesses starting at 4PM.

If you want to see some major shenanigans being pulled, come join me! I mean major.

This also means I have a lot to do. I need to get a hold of some real Leprechaun shoes. Not those bullshit floppy ones that just slide over your feet. One spilled Guinness and I’ll look like a hobo.

And I will be spilling Guinness.

I also need a hat. I think a big green hat would be a little contrived, but then maybe that’s what I’m going for.

Damn I have a lot to think about and not much time.
